MagicCon Amsterdam 2026: Every Announcement, New Set, and Secret Lair

Wizards used MagicCon Amsterdam (July 17–19, 2026) to spoil Reality Fracture, reveal the entire 2027 set roadmap — including an undersea plane — and drop new Secret Lairs. Here's everything that was announced.
MagicCon Amsterdam ran July 17–19, 2026, and it was one of the biggest reveal weekends of the year. Wizards of the Coast spoiled the next set, laid out the entire 2027 in-universe roadmap, and announced a wave of new Secret Lair drops. If you missed the panels, here's everything that matters — and what it means for your Commander decks.
Reality Fracture: first real spoilers
The next set, Reality Fracture (set code FRA), got its first proper spoiler dump. It releases October 2, 2026, and its hook is scale: the plane's reality has shattered, pulling alternate-reality versions of the Multiverse's planeswalkers into one expansion. It's the closest thing yet to a dedicated "superfriends" set.
Key mechanics and cards revealed:
- - A flood of planeswalkers. Many familiar 'walkers return as cheap, low-loyalty "compressed" cards — Chandra, Torch of Defiance; The Theorist, Jace Beleren; Chandra, Chill of Compliance; Ajani Resolute and Unrelenting; Garruk, Curse Breaker and Veiled Butcher — so superfriends and proliferate are the marquee archetypes.
- - Prepared returns from Strixhaven on double-faced "Creature // Spell" cards: while a creature is *prepared* you may cast a copy of its spell half, then it unprepares — a repeatable body-plus-spell engine.
- - Exhaust is the new keyword: an activated ability you can use only once, ever — powerful one-shot effects like reanimation.
- - Commander note: the set's many planeswalkers are not legal commanders. Only its legendary creatures — early spoilers include Liliana the Faultless, Tinybones Pocket Nuisance, Liliana the Repentant, and Titanbones Towering Heart — can helm a deck.
We break the whole set down in our Reality Fracture Set Guide.
The 2027 roadmap: three new planes
The headline of the weekend was the reveal of all three in-universe sets coming in 2027, interspersed with three still-secret Universes Beyond releases.
Nauctus, the Sunken Realm — February 5, 2027
Magic is finally getting a full underwater plane, one of the most-requested settings for years. Nauctus spans from sunlit shallows to the crushing abyss, and leans heavily on merfolk, seals, and otters. Expect a wave of new commanders for tribal and "matters" decks.
Kamigawa: Titanbreach — June 4, 2027
A return to Kamigawa, but fused with Ikoria as a catastrophic collision threatens the plane. Giant monsters meet spirits and artifacts — a promising home for +1/+1 counter, reanimator, and big-mana strategies.
The Return to Zhalfir — October 1, 2027
Players revisit Zhalfir, the refugee haven pulled out of time during March of the Machine. This one closes out the 2027 in-universe calendar.
New Secret Lair drops
- - Secret Lair x Stardew Valley — a crossover Superdrop featuring cards reimagined with Stardew Valley themes, including Community Center and Galaxy Sword variants, plus a bonus promo for bundle buyers.
- - A Perfectly Normal Superdrop (available September 1, 2026) — an intentionally random lineup ranging from Marvel's Joe Fixit to a returning classic Shivan Dragon.
Festival in a Box & Mystery Booster Commander Edition
The MagicCon Amsterdam Festival in a Box went up for preorder on July 13 and sold out almost instantly — it packed a Mystery Booster 2 display, four exclusive promos, and the Wild in Bloom drop.
Wizards also confirmed a Mystery Booster: Commander Edition later in 2026 — 20-card packs designed specifically for Commander draft, which could become a go-to way to run casual, high-variance pods.
