MTG 2027 Set Release Schedule: Every Confirmed and Rumored Magic Set

A forward look at Magic: The Gathering's 2027 release calendar — from Nauctis and Marvel: Darkhold Destiny to Kamigawa: Titanbreach and a return to Zhalfir. Here's what's confirmed, what's rumored, and what it means for Commander.
With 2026 wrapping up on Reality Fracture and Star Trek, attention is turning to what Magic has lined up for 2027. Dates and details this far out shift often, so this is a living roadmap — we've labeled what's solidly reported versus what's still rumored, and we'll update it as Wizards confirms specifics.
The 2027 lineup (reported)
Based on previews and the roadmap teased at recent MagicCon events, here's the expected shape of the year. Treat every date as approximate until officially confirmed:
- - Nauctis: The Sunken Realm — expected early February 2027. A brand-new in-universe plane with an undersea theme. Details are thin, but a fresh world usually means fresh tribal and archetype fuel for Commander.
- - Marvel: Darkhold Destiny — April 9, 2027 (revealed at NYCC). The mystical Marvel crossover with four Commander decks led by Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela, and Blade. Full rundown in our Darkhold Destiny preview.
- - Kamigawa: Titanbreach — expected mid-2027. A return to the Kamigawa plane; a beloved setting for artifacts, Spirits, and Ninjas, so Commander interest should be high.
- - Return to Zhalfir — expected late 2027. Teferi's long-awaited restored homeland, heavily teased across recent story. Another in-universe set to close the year.
Confirmed vs. rumored, at a glance
- - Confirmed by Wizards: Marvel: Darkhold Destiny and its April 2027 window (NYCC reveal). The existence of the other 2027 worlds has been teased officially, but exact dates have not been locked.
- - Still rumored / provisional: the specific release dates for Nauctis, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, and Zhalfir, plus all set contents. Expect these to firm up at the next MagicCon and in Wizards' annual roadmap update.
What 2027 means for Commander
A few through-lines are already clear:
- - More in-universe sets. After a Universes Beyond-heavy 2026, 2027 brings several original-world sets (Nauctis, Kamigawa, Zhalfir), which tends to mean deeper, more cohesive Commander archetypes.
- - A packed precon calendar. Between Darkhold Destiny's four decks and the Commander decks that ship with each premier set, there will be no shortage of new starting points to upgrade.
- - New planes, new commanders. Every new world adds legendary creatures to build around — and on Tapped Decks, each one becomes buildable as soon as it hits Scryfall.
