Marvel's History of Heroes Secret Lair & Doomsdrop: MTG's Other NYCC Marvel Reveals

Marvel: Darkhold Destiny was the headline of Wizards' New York Comic Con panel, but it wasn't the only Marvel news. Two more products got stage time — one you can buy very soon, and one that's still mostly a teaser.

Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes

The big companion reveal was the Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes — a 30-card premium drop announced at $199.99 and scheduled to go on sale November 2, 2026. As a Countdown Kit, it's framed as a curated collection celebrating Marvel's roster rather than a draftable set.

If you missed the June 2026 Marvel Super Heroes set, this is another way to pick up Marvel cards for Commander — and because Secret Lair cards are real, tournament-legal Magic cards, anything in it is fair game for your decks the moment it arrives.

Doomsdrop — Doctor Doom takes center stage

Wizards also teased Doomsdrop, an upcoming product built around Doctor Doom. Details were thin at reveal beyond the Doom focus, but it signals that Marvel's villains are getting dedicated spotlight products alongside the mystical heroes of Darkhold Destiny. Doom already appears as a commander in the Marvel Super Heroes set (Doctor Doom, King of Latveria), so a drop expanding his support is a natural fit for Latveria-flavored Commander decks.

How it all fits together

Here's Marvel's near-term Magic calendar as it stands after NYCC:

• - Secret Lair: Marvel's History of Heroes — November 2, 2026 (30 cards, $199.99).
• - Doomsdrop — teased, date to be confirmed.
• - Marvel: Darkhold Destiny — April 9, 2027, the full set with four Commander decks.
