Reality Fracture Sphinx Tribal: Building Around The Ur-Sphinx (FRA)

Reality Fracture is secretly the Sphinx set, with a whole cycle of Elder Sphinx legends and The Ur-Sphinx to lead them. Here's how to build a Sphinx typal Commander deck — the payoffs, the mill-and-cast plan, and the skeleton.
Under the planeswalker theme, Reality Fracture is quietly the biggest Sphinx set in years — a full cycle of two-color Elder Sphinx legends plus a dedicated tribal payoff to lead them. If you love big, evasive, card-advantage flyers, this is your set. Here's how to build Sphinx typal.
Your Commander: The Ur-Sphinx
The Ur-Sphinx ({6}{W}{U}{B}) is the obvious captain:
- - Eminence — as long as it's in the command zone or on the battlefield, your other Sphinx spells cost {1} less.
- - Flying.
- - Whenever one or more Sphinxes you control attack, each player mills that many cards — then, for each player, you may cast a card they milled for free.
So your Sphinxes are cheaper the moment you start the game, and attacking with a flying board mills the table and lets you cast their cards. It's card advantage, tempo, and inevitability in one.
The Elder Sphinx Cycle
Reality Fracture's two-color Elder Sphinxes make excellent 99-card includes (and alternate commanders):
- - Denzilore Fatehold [WU] — scry/surveil puts +1/+1 counters on your team.
- - Uldaros Theorix [UB] — flashes back a pile of spells from your graveyard on entry.
- - Ingris Stingerquill [BR] — pings opponents when your creatures attack; makes haste tokens.
- - Aerid Konstrari [RG] — Heartwood token engine.
- - Kwia Vigorbloom [WG] — lifegain into Lotus ramp tokens.
Pair them with classic Sphinxes (Sphinx of the Steel Wind, Sphinx of Uthuun, Consecrated Sphinx) and this set's Sphinx of False Conclusions and Sphinx's Approach.
The Game Plan
You're an Esper (W/U/B) Sphinx typal deck: ramp into evasive flyers, draw a mountain of cards, and win in the air while The Ur-Sphinx mills the table and casts their spells for free. Grindy, controlling, and inevitable.
The Skeleton
Build to the Commander template, tuned Esper flyers:
- - 1 The Ur-Sphinx
- - 37–38 lands with solid WUB fixing (Turbulent Shore/Wetlands, triomes)
- - 10–12 ramp to power out expensive Sphinxes
- - 10 removal + 3 board wipes (Esper's specialty)
- - 10+ Sphinxes and typal payoffs (Herald's Horn, Kindred Discovery, Vanquisher's Banner)
- - 2–3 win conditions
How You Win
Beat down in the air with evasive Sphinxes, grind the table out on cards, or mill them out with repeated Ur-Sphinx attacks. Keep a clear win condition — flyers plus card draw needs a closer.
