Best Reality Fracture Commanders: The Top New Legends to Build (FRA/FRC)

The best new Commander options from Reality Fracture (October 2, 2026), ranked and explained — from the four-color superfriends payoff Jace, Multiverse Architect to Nissa, Karn, Niv-Mizzet, Vraska, Tinybones and more, with the deck each one wants to build.
Reality Fracture (set code FRA, with FRC for its Commander decks) releases October 2, 2026 and drops one of the deepest benches of new commanders in years. A quick reminder before the list: the set's loose planeswalkers — the many Chandras, Ajanis, Garruks, and the Jace deck-card variants — are not legal commanders. Only its legendary creatures can helm a deck, plus the one planeswalker that explicitly says it can. Here are the best of them, ranked by ceiling and build-around potential.
1. Jace, Multiverse Architect [WUBR] — Superfriends
The marquee commander and the only planeswalker in the set that can be your commander (its text literally reads "Jace, Multiverse Architect can be your commander"). For {1}{W}{U}{B}{R} you get a four-color engine that draws two and bottoms one each turn, taxes attacks against your planeswalkers, and cheats creatures or 'walkers into play. It's the natural centerpiece of a superfriends / planeswalker-matters deck stuffed with the set's cheap 'walkers, proliferate, and the Empower package. If you've waited years for a real planeswalker-in-the-command-zone deck, this is it. Full build in our Jace, Multiverse Architect deck guide.
2. Nissa, Leyline Tamer [WUBR] — Landfall value
A four-color {3}{W}{U}{B}{R} Elf Wizard with deathtouch and vigilance that draws a card on every landfall and, once a turn, digs until it hits a creature and puts it straight onto the battlefield. That's card advantage and free bodies stapled to lands you were playing anyway. Backbone of a ramp-heavy, five-color-adjacent value pile.
3. Karn, Gilded Guardian [WUBRG] — Five-color artifacts
A {2/W}{2/U}{2/B}{2/R}{2/G} Golem you can cast with generic mana in any deck, drawing a card for each color among your other artifacts on entry. As a five-color commander it unlocks the whole artifact toolbox and rewards a rainbow of colored mana rocks. Flexible, splashy, and a great "goodstuff artifacts" helm.
4. Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel [WB] — Lifegain-into-cards
A {2}{W}{W}{B}{B} Spirit Dragon that turns your lifegain into card draw (pay the life you gained, draw that many) and drains the table one point at a time. In Orzhov lifegain it's an engine and a slow win condition in one card.
5. Vraska, Soul of Stone [WUR] — Spellslinger tokens
A cheap {U}{R}{W} Gorgon Wizard that makes a Sculpture Treasure artifact creature token every time you cast a noncreature spell and gives your artifact creatures vigilance. Jeskai spellslinger, artifact-token swarms, and a low-to-the-ground curve make this an aggressive value commander.
6. Tinybones, Pocket Nuisance [B] — Mono-black discard
A {2}{B} Skeleton Rogue that forces discard on entry and pings each opponent whenever anyone discards. A focused, budget-friendly mono-black discard / stax commander that punishes the whole table at once.
7. Avacyn, Angel of Horror [B] — Aristocrats & reanimation
A {5}{B}{B}{B} flying, deathtouch Angel that returns any nontoken creature you control — or Avacyn herself — to the battlefield the moment it dies. A recursion engine that anchors aristocrats and sacrifice value decks.
8. Omnath, Locus of the Void [C] — Colorless big-mana
A {7} Elemental that grows with your unspent mana, keeps that mana from emptying (it becomes colorless instead), and adds {C}{C} on every landfall. A colorless / lands-matter ramp payoff you can run in any color identity.
9. Ghalta the Unstoppable [G] — Mono-green stompy
The {8}{G} Elder Dinosaur costs {X} less where X is your greatest creature power, so it routinely lands for a few mana, and it hands trample to your whole team. Pure mono-green stompy in one card.
10. The Ur-Sphinx [WUB] — Sphinx tribal
Reality Fracture is quietly the Sphinx set, with a whole cycle of Elder Sphinx legends (Denzilore Fatehold, Uldaros Theorix, Ingris Stingerquill, Aerid Konstrari, Kwia Vigorbloom). The {6}{W}{U}{B} Ur-Sphinx has Eminence, discounts your Sphinxes from the command zone, mills on attack, and lets you cast what you milled — the obvious head of a Sphinx typal deck.
Honorable Mentions
- - Liliana the Repentant [B] — Exhaust reanimation for a one-shot haymaker.
- - Codie, Ravenous Codex [WUBRG] — copies your Prepared spells; a five-color spellslinger engine.
- - Tam, the Possibility [WUBRG] — discounts planeswalker spells and proliferates loyalty; an alternate superfriends helm.
- - Yuriko, Hope from the Shadows [U] and Kiora of Salt and Sand [UG] — strong tempo and landfall options.
