Legendary Creature — Hyena Beast
Partner with Nikara, Lair Scavenger Vigilance When Yannik enters, exile another creature you control until Yannik leaves the battlefield. When you do, distribute X +1/+1 counters among any number of target creatures, where X is the exiled creature's power.
“Sacrifice creatures to Yannik and pump your team with +1/+1 counters.”
Yannik, Scavenging Sentinel is all about sacrificing creatures to generate value through its exile effect. When Yannik enters the battlefield, you exile another creature you control, then distribute +1/+1 counters equal to that creature's power when Yannik leaves or the exile ends. This means you want a deck full of expendable creatures—tokens, small utility creatures, or anything with a big power stat you don't mind parting with. Your game plan is to sacrifice creatures repeatedly (using your own sac outlets or blockers), pump your team with counters, and swing in for commander damage or a wide token attack.
The deck naturally wants to generate tokens and creatures so you always have fodder to exile. Cards like Bitterblossom, Doubling Season, and Intrepid Adversary work beautifully—they flood the board while synergizing with Yannik's counter distribution. You can also run aristocrat effects (Viscera Seer, Ashnod's Altar) to sac creatures on your own terms and get extra value. Since Yannik has a partner option in Nikara, Lair Scavenger, you can run both commanders if you want redundant graveyard synergies, or just run Yannik alone with a traditional 99-card build.
Victory comes from either a wide go-wide strategy (tokens pumped with counters) or a slower aristocrats grind where you generate incremental advantage through repeated sacrifices. The deck rewards creature-heavy deckbuilding and repetitive sac loops, making it satisfying and grindy without being overly complicated.

Replace Doubling Season with Parallel Lives or Anointed Procession; skip Craterhoof Behemoth and use Overrun or Finale of Devastation instead.
