Urza, Lord Protector is a cost-reduction engine that makes your noncreature spells cheaper, which means you're naturally inclined to play a spell-heavy deck with lots of artifacts, instants, and sorceries. The dream is to assemble Urza with The Mightstone and Weakstone to meld into Urza, Planeswalker—a game-ending threat that generates massive value. Even without the meld, Urza gives you the mana advantage to chain spells together, fuel combo lines, or protect yourself with instant-speed interaction.

Your gameplan revolves around filling your deck with cheap artifacts (especially zero-cost ones like Ornithopter and Thought Vessel), cantrips, and protective spells while searching for or tutoring The Mightstone and Weakstone. Once you've assembled the pieces, the meld into a planeswalker is essentially a win condition—Urza, Planeswalker offers card draw, token generation, and protection. If you can't meld, you'll simply out-tempo opponents by playing multiple spells per turn and controlling the board.

This is a tempo-control deck with combo elements.
