Legendary Creature — Merfolk God
Svyelun has indestructible as long as you control at least two other Merfolk. Whenever Svyelun attacks, draw a card. Other Merfolk you control have ward {1}. (Whenever another Merfolk you control becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays {1}.)
“Merfolk lord that draws cards and protects the tribe with ward.”
Svyelun is a blue Merfolk lord that rewards you for building a creature-heavy deck packed with other Merfolk. Your gameplan is to assemble a small Merfolk army, turn Svyelun sideways each turn to draw cards, and protect your team with ward — making opponents pay extra to target your creatures. The draw engine lets you dig for more threats and answers while you pressure the table with evasive fish creatures.
You want to populate the deck with efficient Merfolk that synergize with the tribe: cheap creatures that come down early, lords that pump your team, and cards with islandwalk or other evasion to slip through. Svyelun's indestructibility kicks in once you have two other Merfolk, which is usually around turn 3–4, making her a resilient anchor. Your path to victory is combat damage from a coordinated school of Merfolk, supported by draw advantage and the defensive tax that ward provides.

Skip expensive Merfolk like Aether Vial and lean on budget lords (Merfolk Sovereign, Kopala, Warden of Waves); use basic ramp like Llanowar Elves and cheap cantrips like Opt instead of pricey card draw.
