Legendary Creature — Human Samurai
Haste Whenever Risona deals combat damage to a player, if it doesn't have an indestructible counter on it, put an indestructible counter on it. Whenever combat damage is dealt to you, remove an indestructible counter from Risona.
“Aggressive Samurai commander that grows unblockable via indestructible counters.”
Risona is a scrappy little Samurai who rewards you for swinging in early and often. The gameplan is straightforward: attack with your commander to stack indestructible counters, making her progressively harder to remove while you rack up commander damage. She's best built as a voltron-lite strategy where you're not going all-in on equipment, but rather using cheap tricks, pump spells, and evasion to ensure your attacks connect. The indestructible counter acts as a damage race timer—your opponents have to take hits or actively damage you to strip them off, which limits their ability to stabilize.
The beauty of Risona is her haste and low mana cost mean you're threatening attacks by turn two or three. You want a lean deck with efficient beaters, combat tricks, and ways to protect her when she matters most. Cards that give evasion, temporary boosts, or repeated damage triggers all help push through. Since she punishes damage going to you by removing counters, you're naturally incentivized to stay on the offensive rather than play passively—it keeps her threat level climbing.

Skip expensive dual lands—basic Mono-Red + basics with cheap dual land alternatives like Evolving Wilds work fine. Replace pricey equipment with card-draw cantrips and pump spells like Assault Strobe and Brute Force instead.
