“Budget Dragon lord that gets cheaper and transforms into a 5/5 flyer when you've got three Dragons.”
Nogi is a cost-reducer and payoff engine for Dragon-focused red decks. Your gameplan is straightforward: cast Nogi early, then ramp into big Dragons as quickly as possible. Each Dragon you play comes down a mana cheaper, letting you chain threats and close out games faster than your opponents can answer them. Once you've assembled three Dragons and attack with Nogi, he transforms into a flying 5/5, giving you a second threat axis and triggering repeatedly each turn.
You'll lean heavily on Dragons with strong enter-the-battlefield effects (like Stonecoil Serpent effects or direct damage) and card draw to chain spells together. Red ramp is your friend—manadorks, treasure tokens, and other fast mana let you curve out efficiently. Your win condition is typically combat damage from a mix of Nogi, your Dragons, and any utility creatures or burn spells that slip through. By turn 5–6, you're often attacking with multiple flyers and a pumped Nogi, which most tables can't race.

Skip expensive Dragon staples like Sneak Attack and Terror of Mount Velus; replace with cheaper creatures like Demanding Dragon, Drakuseth Maw of Flames, and Dragon Tempest for similar aggressive effects.
