The dream is to untap Lorthos multiple times per turn—via extra combat steps, bounce effects, or other untap mechanics—so you can tap down eight permanents repeatedly and keep your opponents locked out of the game. You're not trying to win quickly; instead, you're using Lorthos as a control engine that gradually strangles opponents' resources while your big blue body deals 8 damage at a time.
