His sneak ability lets you cast him cheaply by bouncing an unblocked attacker back to your hand during combat, making him a repeatable threat that grows stronger the more creatures you have on board. Once he's in play, he becomes a lords effect for your team, turning every creature into a pseudo-Gideon by adding power.
