Strategy
Kirk, Man of Action is a straightforward lord that pumps a diverse crew of starship personnel. You're building around Officers, Artificers, Doctors, Pilots, Scientists, and Spacecraft creatures—all the Star Trek creature types that make sense on a Federation vessel. The deck wants to assemble a crew of synergistic creatures, then swing in with a +2/+2 pump making them a real threat. You'll lean into Tokens and Counters to flood the board with Officer tokens (especially 1/1 red Starfleet Officers), ramp with Spacecraft and artifact synergies, and win through good old combat damage. Kirk doesn't require complex combos; he's about building board presence and attacking hard.
The core gameplan is to cast Kirk early (turn 4–5), then fill your side with cheap creature tokens and utility creatures that share those creature types. Cards like Excalbian Gamemaster and Starfleet Academy rewards for playing many different lands tie into the "Federation" theme, which counts creature types—so a diverse cast of Doctors, Scientists, Officers, and Pilots stacks the value. Beam me up creatures give you ways to blink your enter-the-battlefield triggers, and Spacecraft can station their way to powerful effects while your crew keeps growing. You win by turning your bobbled crew sideways into lethal.

Key Synergies
Budget Build
Excalbian Gamemaster and other Star Trek lords are the pricey pieces; substitute with budget lords like Adaptive Automaton or Metallic Mimic, and use basic Planet lands instead of dual-lands to keep costs down.
