Strategy
Jean-Luc, Mon Capitaine is a build-around commander that rewards you for assembling a diverse crew of creature types. His main payoff is simple but powerful: every Faerie you control enters with bonus +1/+1 counters equal to the number of different creature types among your non-Borg creatures. This means a midrange deck stuffed with Humans, Officers, Vulcans, Androids, and other types becomes a counter-generating engine that pumps your flyers. You're not building pure Faerie tribal—instead, you're mixing diverse creature types (lean into Starfleet tokens and utility creatures) to maximize Jean-Luc's ability, then attacking with a evasive, well-sized aerial army.
The deck wants to play a mix of cheap creature-type diversity early (Officer tokens, utility creatures like Excalbian Gamemaster), then ride that into mid-game Faerie flyers and draw spells. Blue gives you cantrips and token makers like Borg Scout Sphere and Romulan Bird-of-Prey; Red adds haste and aggressive creatures (D-7 Battle Cruiser tokens); White provides Starfleet Academy and tax effects. Your win condition is combat damage via flying creatures that snowball in size. You're also naturally suited to playing lands like Starfleet Academy and the 11 Planet cards to support Strange new worlds payoffs and maximize mana fixing.
