Legendary Creature — Hydra
Vigilance Hydra spells you cast cost {4} less to cast. Whenever a creature you control becomes the target of a spell, Gargos fights up to one target creature you don't control.
“Build a Hydra army and fight your way to victory with Gargos.”
Gargos is your Hydra lord and fighting engine rolled into one giant package. Once he hits the table, your Hydra spells cost {4} less, letting you vomit out massive green creatures way ahead of the mana curve. But the real magic is his second ability: whenever any of your creatures become targeted—whether by your own pump spells, combat tricks, or even boardwipes—Gargos forces enemy creatures into fights. This turns your pump spells and instant-speed tricks into pseudo-removal, dealing with blockers or threats while you swing in with an army of giant Hydras.
Your game plan is straightforward: ramp early, drop Gargos, then chain together cheap Hydra spells and combat tricks to generate tons of fights. Cards that target your own creatures (like Aspect of Hydra, Vines of Vastwood, or Sheltering Word) become removal spells. You'll win through good old combat damage with an army of undercosted fatties, backed up by the fact that Gargos himself has vigilance and an 8/7 body. The deck rewards you for playing creatures and tricks you'd want anyway.

Skip expensive Hydras like Polukranos, World Eater; use budget staples like Kalonian Hydra or Lifeblood Hydra instead. Ramp with Llanowar Elves and Cultivate rather than dual lands.
