“Elder God that doubles counters each turn—exponential damage to all opponents.”
Gargantos is a straightforward commander that leverages exponential growth to close out games quickly. He enters with three +1/+1 counters and doubles them every upkeep, meaning by turn 6-7 you're swinging for massive damage. The deathtouch makes him a fantastic blocker while you're ramping, and his damage ability turns him into a pseudo-anthem that punishes multiple opponents, making him particularly strong in multiplayer. Your job is to protect him, ramp early, and let the math do the work.
The deck wants to play like midrange: ramp into Gargantos, keep him alive, and swing for the win once he's threatening enough. Include cards that protect him (shroud, indestructibility, hexproof), untap effects to trigger his ability twice, and +1/+1 counter synergies to make him even faster. Doubling Cube effects and berserk-style tricks can let you steal wins before your upkeep even arrives. Since he deals damage equal to combat damage to all opponents, you can often close out a three-player pod in one hit.
With only three colors and a relatively low mana curve, Gargantos is forgiving for newer players while offering depth through protection and untap combos for those willing to dig deeper.

Skip pricey tutors; use budget ramp like Cultivate, Llanowar Elves, and Satyr Wayfinder. Swap Lightning Greaves for Swiftfoot Boots and lean on common protection spells.
