Strategy
David and Carol Marcus is a mana-fixing commander that rewards you for playing diverse nonbasic lands. Every time it enters, you grab a tapped Planet token that taps for any color, essentially doubling your color-fixing payoff. The core gameplan is to lean into the "Strange new worlds" theme by running as many differently named lands as possible—Planets, utility lands, dual lands—then synergize with cards that scale off land diversity (like Excalbian Gamemaster, Deep Space Scan, Pah-Wraith, and Branching Timeline). You ramp early, smooth your mana, and enable a midrange deck that can cast a variety of spells across multiple colors.
The deck wins through commander damage or creatures, but the real appeal is consistency and flexibility. By turn 3–4 you'll have green mana plus several other colors flowing, letting you cast threats like Excalbian Gamemaster (which generates Officer tokens equal to your land diversity) or activate powerful mana sinks from Starfleet Academy. This is less about a singular combo and more about using your smooth mana to out-tempo and out-resource opponents with a well-built mana base that doubles as a win condition.

Key Synergies
Budget Build
Start with basics and cheap dual lands (Evolving Wilds, Kodama's Reach); expensive Planets can be swapped for Khans-block fetches or basic land ramp (Cultivate, Sakura-Tribe Elder).
