Dathon, His Heart Open

Dathon, His Heart Open is an enchantment-focused commander that rewards you for casting Sagas and other enchantments with card draw and damage output. Your gameplan revolves around building a modest board of enchantments while leveraging Dathon's activated ability to proliferate counters on Sagas, turning small repeatable effects into game-winning engines. The Saga synergy is particularly strong—each Saga you cast triggers Dathon twice (once for the enchantment, once for the Saga bonus), accelerating your card advantage and damage clock. You win by chipping away at opponents with Saga triggers and damage payoffs while building an enchantment-heavy gamestate that becomes difficult to dismantle.

In practice, you'll play mana acceleration into early enchantments like ramp Auras or cheap Sagas, then use Dathon to draw into more threats. His sorcery-speed counter-duplication ability transforms slow Sagas into rapid-fire value engines—doubling a Saga's chapter count per turn can lock out games. You have flexibility to pivot toward token generation (via Sagas like All Good Things...), card selection, or even direct damage, depending on what the table needs. The deck plays smoothly at mid-power tables and punishes opponents who ignore your accumulating advantage.
