Strategy
Beckett Mariner is a scrappy little commander that rewards you for tapping her repeatedly. Her first strike means she can chip in combat damage safely, but the real payoff is the Reckless Behavior trigger—every time she taps, she accumulates promotion counters, and at three counters she burns everyone for 2 damage and resets. Your deck wants to find ways to tap Beckett early and often: cards that tap creatures for value, sacrifice outlets, and effects that trigger on tapping. This turns a fragile 2/1 into a consistent damage engine.
You're essentially playing a tempo-aggressive deck with a grinding burn component. Early game, you attack and tap creatures naturally. Mid-game, you layer in effects like Thousand-Year Elixir or Rings of Brighthearth to untap Beckett and fire off her trigger multiple times per turn cycle. The win is steady but relentless—between combat damage, direct damage from the promotion counter payoff, and support from red's classic burn spells, opponents run out of life total before they stabilize. It's not flashy combo, just solid synergy and incremental value.

Key Synergies
Budget Build
Skip expensive untap effects like Rings of Brighthearth; use budget alternatives like Thousand-Year Elixir, Sword of Feast and Famine, or symmetrical tap outlets (Furnace of Rath, Urabrask). Red has plenty of tap effects at common and uncommon.
